George Zilkha
George Zilkha, a third-year finance major at the University of Miami from Manchester, Vermont, has died, leaving family, friends and the university community deeply saddened by the loss of a young man described as driven, thoughtful and full of promise. Mr Zilkha passed away on Saturday, 3 January. He was studying finance at the University of Miami with ambitions of entering the finance industry, motivated by a strong interest in business, mathematics and academic excellence. Those who knew him said he approached his studies with focus and determination, holding himself to high standards while encouraging others to do the same.
He was an active member of Alpha Kappa Psi, the professional business fraternity, where peers remembered him as confident, professional and easy to connect with. Fellow students said he had a natural ability to move between academic, creative and social spaces, bringing authenticity and energy wherever he went.
Friends described Mr Zilkha as someone who fully embraced life. He was known for his warmth, sense of humour and the way he made others feel seen and supported. Many said he inspired confidence simply by being himself, offering encouragement without judgement and celebrating the successes of those around him.
The University of Miami community has expressed profound grief at his death, with tributes highlighting the positive impression he made in a relatively short time. Students and faculty alike have spoken of a young man whose potential was evident and whose presence will be deeply missed.
